Infrastructure for QIA in Clinical Trials

|
The UCLA Quantitative Imaging Laboratory has a secure infrastructure that supports multicenter clinical trials. The infrastructure integrates image segmentation, quantitation and characterization with database and data mining facilities - specifically for quantitative data [Aber99a].
Image data is received by DICOM transfer to a secure server behind the radiology network firewall. The data is then processed at Analysis Workstations and quantitative results written to a database. The quantitative data is then read into statistical analysis packages. The infrastructure is designed to handle large numbers of cases and large amounts of quantitative data. Secure data transfer and anonymization of patient data are key aspects of the infrastructure.
